Description

DIN 1.2344 tool steel (also known as AISI H13 steel or just H13) is a tool steelgrade standardised for hot working. The main feature of this grade is the combination of alloyed elements of chromium, molybdenum and vanadium, Cr-Mo-V, which provides a high wear resistance to thermal shock.

    Heat Treatment

    1. Annealing—Heating slowly and uniformly to 800~850℃, furnace cooling to 600℃ at a rate 10~20℃/h., Hardness HB 229 max
    2. Stress Relieving—650~700℃, furnace cooling.
    3. Hardening—
      Preheating (1)：Warming to 550~600℃, holding 30 minutes per 25 mm.
      Preheating (2)：Warming to 800~850℃, holding 30 minutes per 25 mm.
      Austenitizing：Heating to 1000~1050℃, holding 30 minutes per 25 mm.
      Quenchant：By oil or air.
    4. .Tempering—550~650℃, holding 60 minutes per 25 mm, air cooling. Double tempering.
